About the AMERICA club

A.M.E.R.I.C.A. is a gaming club based in Auckland, New Zealand.

We are one of the longest running clubs on Auckland University campus. We meet every Tuesday night in the Commerce A building at Auckland University at 7pm -- see the 'club nights' page for specifics. At these meetings we run a variety of table top roleplaying games, as well as many card games and board games.

We are running three special Orientation Club Nights this year, the Tuesdays March 7th, 14th, and 21st. At these club nights we'll have a wide selection of tabletop games to play, as well as a few boardgames / collectable card games. This is designed so it'll be simple for anyone at all to turn up, and have something fun to do, or new to experience.

We also are associated with several people who run popular Live Action Roleplaying (LARP) games that have a large player base; each game typically plays on a specific Saturday evening of the month.

Three times a year we host tournaments for gamers. First one is the Presidents Con (Kemys-Con 2017) is a weekend during the first semester break in April where we have a fun weekend of casual roleplaying games, lots of board gaming and an introduction newbie friendly LARP. The second one is The AMERICA's Cup which happens in the Mid Semester break in July where we have a tournament and lots of relaxed and informal gaming - typically including systemless games and fun quirky scenarios where new and old gamemasters can get together. The third one is From the Vaults which happens in the second semester break in September where we have another fun weekend of casual roleplaying games and more board gaming. A chance to get some last gaming in before assignments, study and exams take up all our time.

We also host a large annual big gaming event called The BattleCry Convention. Battlecry is a tournament that draws a nationwide audience of roleplayers, cardgamers and wargamers to compete against each other, with points scored for their performance and gamesmanship. This is run in February each year.

logoA.M.E.R.I.C.A. stands for Academy of Middle Earth Roleplaying and Individual Character Assimilation (jokingly taken on by our first president),and has for a long time been associated with gaming, roleplaying, tournament, and social gatherings in New Zealand with all the highs and lows associated with a successful and constantly evolving club.

We have a policy to never turn someone away - we are a very social bunch and hang out at Uni during the week. If you have any questions about anything at all, you can contact us on the.america.club@gmail.com or head to our Facebook group page on https://www.facebook.com/groups/328139557280643/
